Rishi Raj Borah: Director of Program, Orbis India

Rishi was named as one of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness
(IAPB)’s Eye Health Heroes in 2017, but he has long been a hero of the Orbis team.

In his own words, “It is our responsibility as adults and good citizens of this planet to look after our children and ensure their well-being and happiness. Children are our future and if we don’t look after them, who will? I always work for children and thoroughly enjoy being able to touch their lives in my own small way.”

Rishi has been with Orbis for 10 years and is an integral part of the Orbis India journey. He has developed innovative, and sustainable home-grown eye care initiatives for communities across India and Nepal, impacting the lives of millions of children. “Rishi is the glue that binds the Orbis India Partner Network together. He is also the guiding light to the program team giving both direction and vision for the future,” explains Dr. Rahul Ali, Country Director, India. “He is a great asset for us all and remains one of the most accessible members of the program team for both partners and team members alike.”

The Orbis Values are part of Rishi working style where his commitment and caring nature has fostered trust, accountability and excellence in all his working relationships, he explains: "I strongly believe in true partnership, most of my time at Orbis is invested in building sustainable partnerships with eye care institutions and supporting them to help children see better. I truly like this."
