Contactless Donations Pilot

We wanted to share a video of Very Spexy, one of the amazing opticians who has raised the most funds using our test Contactless Donations Pilot.

Orbis has selected ten independent opticians who will exclusively host a donation terminal. As an international charity, we are always looking for new ways to connect our cause with the British public.

This pilot is a critical first step for Orbis, and your involvement will help us expand this project, free of charge, to any independent optician wishing to host a terminal.

We ask that all staff watch this short presentation to learn more about Orbis UK and our contactless trial.

We want to help you with asking your customers for donations, below are some simple messaging staff can say to customers at checkout:

"We are supporting an eye care charity called Orbis. Would you like to join us? A £5 donation could pay for a pair of glasses for a child who would otherwise struggle in the classroom."

OR

"We are supporting an incredible charity called Orbis. They save sight across the world, and we are asking our customers today if they would like to donate to help transform a child's sight. Many schoolchildren report struggling to see the blackboard. For these kids, education is often the only way out of poverty. We would be so grateful if you would consider donating today."

  • A staggering 90% is preventable or treatable.
  • More than 670 million people live with uncorrected refractive error – the world's most prominent cause of vision loss.
