Trinh is from Vietnam. She was nine years old, riding her bike, when a logging truck came out of nowhere and knocked her over.

She sustained a serious head injury and was in a coma for several weeks. When she woke up, her vision was badly damaged. Her eyes were no longer aligned properly.

Trinh’s condition, called strabismus, left her with severe vision problems but it could be corrected through surgery.

Trinh had an operation to realign her eyes on the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital when it came to Vietnam last year.

Trinh’s surgery was a complete success and her vision has been restored. She is a keen student and a voracious reader - at the age of 15, she again looks ahead to a life filled with possibility.
