Stephen Pau takes on toughest challenge yet for Orbis

Stephen Pau has been supporting Orbis for over seven years. Most recently taking on the London Marathon in 2014 where he achieved an exceptional four hour run time and smashed his fundraising target, raising close to GBP 3,000 for Orbis’s sight saving work.

Now, Stephen is taking on a new challenge for Orbis – Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® (UTMB) Sur Les Traces des Ducs de Savoie (TDS). The UTMB 'Ultramarathons' take place in August 2015 across the Alps, in France, Italy and Switzerland and are widely regarded as some of the toughest foot races in Europe.  Stephen’s 119km run will take him over an altitude of 7,250m and through some treacherous conditions including cold, wind, rain and snow in day light and pitch black night. To top it off the race must be completed in less than 33 hours.

The run is certainly not for the faint hearted so Stephen has been training hard to get his mind and body ready for the race by taking on variety of trail and marathon races. His recent races have included The North Face 100, King of the Hills (K.O.T.H.) Mountain Marathon Series 2014-2015, Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2015, and Salomon to the Top of Hong Kong Challenge 2015, to name just a few!

Stephen is now begining his fundraising whilst keeping up with a mix of interval training, hill sprints and long runs and cross training activities.

I am excited about the event. I am thankful for the opportunity to take part in this mountainous race, with its spectacular views of nature along the route, whilst raising funds for a worthy cause.
