Authors raise more than £3,000 for Orbis through book sales

October 2016

John F O’Connell and George Williams have generously donated more than £3,700 in royalties from their book, Air Transport in the 21st Century, helping Orbis tackle preventable blindness in the developing world.

The publication, which delves into aviation trends and takes a look at current factors affecting the industry including globalisation and ever evolving customer requirements, features a foreword by Rob Walters, an Orbis Trustee and Medical Volunteer and also contributions from key executives from safety, manufacturing and navigational organisations, as well as chapters written by influential aviation academic authors.

The money raised will go towards training local eye care teams in some of the poorest areas in the world, providing them with the tools to deliver more effective treatments to those suffering from eye disease in their community.

Orbis has a long standing affiliation with the aviation industry and gladly welcomes the support of both John and George, who share our passion for the positive and exciting difference this mode transportation can make to those struggling in darkness.
