The Airport Operators Association

The Airport Operators Association (AOA) has chosen to support Orbis as the beneficiary of a Prize Draw at their Annual Dinner since 2006. Thanks to the generosity of AOA’s members and guests at the Annual Dinners, the events have so far raised £90,802! This year is was the tenth time that the Annual Dinner raised funds our work, and the event was a great success!

With over 800 people attending the evening it presented another fantastic opportunity for Orbis to raise awareness of its work within the aviation sector. We are especially grateful to everyone who donated to take part in the prize draw, and to AirEuropa, British Airways, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic who donated flights as prizes, which raised over £6,700!

Founded in 1934, the AOA is the national voice of UK airports, a trade association that represents their interests in government and regulatory matters. The AOA’s members include over 50 airports and more than 150 Associate Members, made up of companies representing a wide range of suppliers in the aviation industry.

This partnership is grounded in Orbis’ innovative approach of fusing aviation with medicine, encapsulated in our Flying Eye Hospital. The Flying Eye Hospital has attracted much backing from the aviation sector since the first plane was launched in 1983.  The third generation Flying Eye Hospital is due to launch in 2016, and will bring upgraded surgical and training facilities onboard a more efficient plane to communities around the world in need of increased access to eye care.
