Claire Goldsmith Eyewear

Claire Goldsmith, one of the most influential designers and creators of modern-day eyewear, has been supporting Orbis since 2017 through gift in kind donations.

In 2017, Claire Goldsmith kindly donated 125 glasses frames to our programmes in Cameroon and followed this with a donation of 642 glasses frame to our programmes in Zambia in 2018. The most recent donation of glasses has been used to support our partner hospital vision centres in both Copperbelt Province and the North Western Province of Zambia. Importantly, the glasses support a longer-term sustainable project by being sold at an accessible price to increase revenue for the hospital’s eye units as well as the Vision Centres. This ensures the long-term future of our Vision Centres and partner hospitals.

In a world of fashion that we find ourselves working in, a blind eye is often turned to the wastage we create. To be able to not waste and to be able to also help such a worthy cause by donating our ex samples and overstocks to a charity as important and effective as Orbis is a pleasure and an honour! I hope to be able to continue this partnership for many years to come.”
