Operation Sight so far

The support for Operation Sight has been really encouraging. The generosity of supporters like you means that in 2017 we were able to achieve so much together.

The first year of the campaign has been important in laying the foundations of the programmes and securing some key support from donors. Yet so much more remains to be done if we are to reach the ambitious goals set out in Operation Sight.

By the End of 2018, We Aimed To:

In the first nine months of 2017 we ran over 31,900 training sessions for medical and community-based staff.

We are presently supporting all 30 hospitals including an additional 2 training institutions in East Africa.

So far we have given over 24,100 adults and children the surgery they so desperately needed to save their sight. We have also enabled over 218,900 adults and children to receive treatments for a range of eye conditions including refractive error, glaucoma and strabismus (squint).

BY THE END OF 2018, WE AIM TO GIVE ANTIBIOTICS TO SIX MILLION PEOPLE LIVING AT RISK OF BLINDING TRACHOMA

We have provided over FOUR MILLION people living at risk of blinding trachoma with antibiotics.

Thank you so much for being a part of Operation Sight, our most ambitious sight-saving campaign to date. We look forward to updating you again in the summer as to how Operation Sight is doing.

In the fight against avoidable blindness, every minute matters - make this one count
