Flying Eye Hospital in Vietnam

In May the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital was back in action for our first in-person, patient-focused training since the pandemic.

Landing in Can Tho, Vietnam, our medical volunteer experts trained local eye care teams and provided sight-saving treatments for children like Han.

100th Millionth Dose

This year we achieved the incredible milestone of delivering 100 million doses of the trachoma-fighting antibiotic, azithromycin, across Ethiopia.

If left untreated, trachoma can cause eyelashes to turn inwards and scratch the eye, leading to permanent blindness.

Cybersight 20th Anniversary

September marked 20 years of our Cybersight platform. Connecting eye care professionals around the world, it provides free training and mentoring.

The platform helps Orbis to overcome challenges around a lack of eye doctors and specialists in low- and middle-income countries to help end avoidable blindness.

Flying Eye Hospital in Zambia

The Flying Eye Hospital set off again, this time to Lusaka, Zambia.

The three week visit included simulation training sessions and workshops led by our expert medical volunteers, as well as Zambian ophthalmologists.

Saving Lucia's Sight

Lucia, 85, embarked on a 120km journey across Zambia to get sight-saving treatment.

Diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes, an Orbis trained surgeon performed her life changing operation that restored her sight.
